The logo above has a clever use of imagery where the scissors making up a face and a mustache.. Links well to the business it has been designed for.

Nice play on imagery here and perfect for a golf theme.

This logo is a great example of how negative space can be used effectively!!!

This logos quite quirky and I like the use of the negative space with the letter 'n' by Chad Sanderson.

I picked out this one and the one below because of the layering of the images, as I'm thinking of applying this kind of technique to my green gigs logos.

This is a great example of how simple graphics work. The limited colour palette gives the poster impact and the visual imagery of the two bears is quite confusing on the eye.

Again some more hand screen printed, 100% recycled greetings cards by Solitaire.
good use of colour and the illustrations work well and have quite a vintage feel to them.

These are some lovely hand screen printed christmas cards by Lisa Jones.
Really nice use of mono tone imagery and lovely illustrations.Plus these cards are part of a 100% recycled range and comes as a pack of 10 cards.

Twinkle...Twinkle....Glitter.

'This print has been inspired by a favourite childhood nursery rhyme of ours. The rhyme itself is from a nineteenth-century English poem, 'The Star' by Jane Taylor, first published in 1806.

The beautiful starry background has printed by hand with black ink, before being printed with a fine layer of prismatic glitter mixed with adhesive, covering the print to give a fantastically sparkly finish! Perfect for both big kids and little kids!

This is a great idea to encourage people to recycle plastic bags.

Exergian

This is a few of the posters I selected from the tv series by Exergian. This is a great example of simple graphic design that works. I've just picked out a few but there all great.

In some ways these relate to how I went about designing my book covers as I just used simple silhouetted images.

Book covers with spot varnish.

On the book above the name of the author and parts of the images are highlighted with a sliver spot varnish. I think this is an effective process used on book covers and is some thing I want to try out with my book designs.


The 'Cold Mountain' cover is a great example of a good book cover design. It uses simple shapes and layered imagery to create impact for the book. However within this design it is only parts of the image that have a clear spot varnish.

Its nice to see Paperchase doing a recycled range and its something that I want to possibly look in to with my range of cards and products too. This particular product is packaged with a roll of gift wrap and 5 gift tags.

Paperchase Xmas Card.

This is a perfect example of what I want to achieve with my card designs. The processes used such as foiling and use of colour really gives this card a feel of quality. Its also printed using vegatable inks in and alcohol free printing process, which means that it is completely recyclable.
Also I want to aim my range of cards at the market of paperchase, so that my cards have that quality and is something you might want to keep. To either frame it because of the lovely print or for a sentimental reason.

This is a really good example for me to look at as is using just the silhouettes for the the imagery, which is what I'm using for my book covers. Also something I've picked up on with a lot of book cover design is that on some the title of the book is highlighted using a spot varnish.Maybe this is something I could consider as a finish on my series of book jackets.

Clinton Cards.

Clinton's a la mode range:
The above card is very plain and simple to me but the use of colour works quite well.

However the card design below has just that little something extra. I'm liking the fact its printed on to a brown stock (as I'm looking in to the use of recycled stocks) the colours just jump out at you against the brown background. Also the way that the 'happy' text has been cut out to reveal a coloured background works really well too.
