Reserviour Dogs Book covers.

This is a very old book cover from faber and faber but I like the link of the clip board to show the book as a film series.

Faber Finds generative book covers

'Faber Finds is a recently launched service offered by publisher Faber and Faber that utilises digital print technology and affordability to make out-of-print books available once more. Basically, a book is only printed when someone orders it - and, thanks to some clever generative programming by Universal Everything collaborator Karsten Schmidt (undertaken through his own studio, postspectacular.com), each cover printed promises to be totally unique. Various decorative elements designed by Marian Bantjes are arranged by the programme into a decorative border around the book’s title and author. The latter appear in a bespoke font, b-hmmnd, designed by Build’s Michael Place.' (www.creativereview.co.uk/cr-blog/2008/july/faber-finds-generative-book-covers)

The great thing is about these cover designs is that they work really well as a series, within the use of the coding above.
As each genre is depicted by different geometric shaped boarders. An example of this is seen below:

Cards.

Some card designs for birthday's...

The above design highlights all things pink and girlie which works well as a theme for a card. The illustrations keep it contemporary whilst being quite traditional with the cake.

The 'birthday boy' card is well designed really eye catching with the use of such bold colours. Keeping the theme of monsters appeals to boys whilst keeping it fun with the use of a horror style font.

Now this design for a birthday card is quite unusual with the image of a burger, this would definitely appeal to the boys. I like the use of the different fonts and sizes of the 'happy birthday' as a design it pretty simple but i think it works. But it definitely only appeals to a certain audience.

Keep Calm Gallery.

Just received a lovely email from keep calm galleries today informing me of their fab new range of Christmas card designs. The type Christmas tree is my favorite with the 'hi' highlighted in a different colour, I feel it works really well and makes the card more friendly with a little personal message.
I would imagine these were printed using letterpress and I really like the quality you get from this process. So I'm thinking I might give it a go with my card designs.

Screen Printed Posters.

Some nice examples of the use of two colours within a design. These are from The Small Stakes who do a lot of poster designs for gig posters.

Christmas Stuff.

This is a lovely idea created by Christmas by Colour. The brief was to choose a pantone colour and give it a name which reminded you of Christmas. These are just a few from top selected that are going to be made in to christmas cards.

Crush Design.

This is a great limited edition series of books were you create the cover designs. It comes complete with a DIY cover with a sticker sheet so the fans can decorate their own books. I think this is a really nice way to involve the reader and to let you have the choice of the design that goes on the cover.

Charlie Higson Series.

These book covers take on the theme of the horror genre and b movies which reflect the tone of the books. The use of type and image works really well, with the use of colour to highlight this.
Designed by Crush Design.

Aesthetics Series.

The use of colour on these book covers make them really stand out from the rest and work well as a series. Designed by Crush Design.

Film Posters

I came across these remakes of film posters designed by Olly Moss. These are great as they use a limited colour palette and simple illustrations to create impact. I think these come across well and relate well to the films they are intended for.
